(c) 2006 - 2013 At first, it was widely suspected that a high-altitude, carrier-based Japanese observation plane had strayed over the L.A. area. Or perhaps one of our own military planes was the culprit-although no 1942-vintage airplane was capable of standing still in the air. The one thing we did learn after the war was that neither the Japanese nor our own military have an "official" record of any of their aircraft flying over the L.A. basin that fabled evening. Even the presence of our pursuit planes, which was absolutely certain, has been denied. Of course, all concerned could be lying-though the probability of such a lie persisting for over sixty years is remote. That is, assuming what we saw was a terrestrial craft.

In recent decades several Ufologists have suggested that it might have been one of the largest mass UFO sightings in history, as it involved well over a million people. Only the sightings over Mexico City in the mid 1990s exceed it in terms of the total number of percipients.

To be sure, no one suggested this theory at the time, as it wasn't until five years later, in 1947, after civilian pilot Kenneth Arnold's landmark sighting of nine "flying saucers" over Mt. Rainer in June of that year, that the notion that UFOs from other planets might be invading our skies became widespread-although if the theory that a crash retrieval occurred at Cape Giradeau, MO, in 1941 is correct, it's quite possible that the government had at least a modicum of knowledge about the phenomenon by 1942.

Several years ago, I joined forces with Ufologist Frank Warren, who's been fascinated by this event for many years-although he's of course much too young to have observed it personally. With the help of well-known Navy photo-analyst and UFO investigator, Dr. Bruce Maccabee, Frank and I have pretty well determined the craft's path before it appeared in the sky over Hermosa Beach. It was initially observed by several residents of the Pacific Palisades rising over the Santa Monica Mountains around 2:45 a.m. From there, it seems to have moved southeast across Santa Monica and West L.A. in the direction of the Baldwin Hills, which separate Culver City from Inglewood and the flatlands to the south....

Last Wednesday morning (Solstice) we drove to the Henge Bookshop in Avebury, and after having a chat with Esther and John, who are now selling Haunted Skies books, we came across a friend of ours, 'Viv'. She was in the car park opposite with her friend Graham, and lives in Glastonbury. She is a talented artist and an old friend of ours. She drives 'Luis' the van, and it was Dawn who was the first to spot it.

We then bumped into Denny Clarke, a lady who we knew from yesteryear, and who was showing some American tourists around the stones. We handed out some business cards and showed them the books and after kissing her goodbye, we walked around the stones and introduced ourselves to various people telling them what we were doing. Suffice to say there were not that many people about, as it was mid-week and the weather was not very good.

We stopped off at Marlborough Library and spoke to a friendly librarian who asked that we leave a book with her in order to ask the committee whether they would be prepared to stock Haunted Skies.

We then went to the Red Lion public house and had a drink and chatted to Alfie the baby (well at least to his beautiful mum) before walking over the antique shop where we were shown some UFO books that had belonged to Andrew Collins, who used to live in the Avebury some years ago. The owner told us about a UFO sighting he had had with his daughter during the 1990s when they saw a cigar-shaped object showing flashing lights hovering over the village.

We then made out way to Eastfields where we parked for the night in the car, after having visited the car park at the top overlooking the fields and speaking to tourists who were looking for the recently formed crop circle that had appeared a few days before. We were told this was a hoax, but didn't see it ourselves.

After a hardy night we set off across country to Glastonbury, where we made our way to the Gothic Image bookshop where we were asked to leave two books for them to make a decision about stocking Haunted Skies. We then continued our journey to Devon where, after enduring the pouring heavy rain, we arrived at the publishers on the afternoon of Friday, by which time I had began to develop a heavy cold, which I still have today. No doubt sleeping out on the side of a rain-soaked hill is not good for your health!

We are in the process of completing Volume 6 which will cover the period of British UFO history between 1975-1977 and Dawn is proofing Volume 7, 1978-1979. I am working on Volume 8 which will cover just one year: 1980! And what a year that is going to be!

UNKNOWN CREATURE IN KANSAS

Leawood, KS-- I was in my kitchen making lunch, when I looked out the window and saw what looked like a greyhound sniffing around my back yard. As I looked at it something looked a little bit off about it, and noticed it had a rugged looking face with black eyes and its ears seemed a like they had been charred or deformed. I looked a little more closely, and noticed it only had some thin hair around its neck. I began to think maybe it was a deer, but the way it was walking was more canine like than a more graceful deer. Well maybe I am looking at a coyote I thought, but I usually only see those at night. Plus they are pretty scrawny and thin. This animal was very thin, but it was also very long and lanky. As it jogged away, the last thought I was left with was that I had just seen a Chupacabras!

I am an illustrator and storyboard artist, so since i did not have my phone to take a picture or video, I felt compelled to sit down and draw out what I saw. This is my illustration of the strange creature I saw.

Nor, does it bode well for avoiding WWIII, given these very Generals have refused to play ball with the dark-siders, and initiate another world war.

The Kougaress can only applaud their courage and integrity in this essentially spiritual war between good and evil. Darling kittens, keep up the prayers and meditations for a real and lasting peace on our precious Mother Earth... a peace that is not about cowering before authority figures... but a peace based on the strength of the human spirit.

The aspect of the photographs and the objects spatial relation to the constellations suggest the light sources were high above the ground, said Wang Sichao, a researcher at the Purple Mountain Observatory attached to the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The object seen by Li is unlikely to be a comet since it was easily observable with the naked eye, was very bright and moved somewhat faster. The wave-like rays emitting from its tail were also not characteristic of comets. Wang, consulting astronomical data, confirmed that no comet has come sufficiently close to the Earth which would explain the phenomenon.

The co-hosts being cognizant of the upcoming 15th anniversary (tomorrow the 13th) of what is known as "The Phoenix Lights," one of the most significant UFO events in history invited Mike to be on, knowing that not only was/is he a witness, but he is also one of the most knowledgeable individuals alive regarding the events that occurred that night 15 years ago tomorrow. When I'm asked about Mike Fortson, the first words out of my mouth are that he has "encyclopedic knowledge" concerning said activity which took place over the skies in the grand state of Arizona (and elsewhere) on March 13th, 1997. As usual he did not disappoint, given the reactions by the co-hosts and staff at ATS, as well as from the feedback from (ATS) forum members and listeners in general.Although Mike's excellent rapport and extensive knowledge made for a great show, there were some added bonuses. The first pleasant surprise was that former city-council-woman and Phoenix Lights activist, Frances Emma Barwood called into the show. She shared her insight regarding former Governor Fife Symington's negative actions pertaining to the Phoenix Lights then, as well as his much later public reversal and claim to have witnessed the large craft (UFO) himself. If that wasn't enough, the very next caller was long time Ufologist and optical physicist, Dr Bruce Maccabee. Coincidentally, I had interviewed, Mike, Frances and Bruce (together) 2 years ago while sitting in for friend and colleague Angelia Joiner and her show, "The Joiner Report." Like Bruce did with me, he did again Saturday night, and that was to make clear his views on the lights (flares) video taped at 10:00 pm and the UFO activity which occurred between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Location of discovery: John Klein site, Mars

I was looking at a Curiosity Rover photo but the quality of the photo was very low so I enlarged the photo until it was 15.8MB is size. Since the original on the NASA Curiosity Rover site is only 160KB you can see that this would make some serious difference and it sure did. In the upper left hand corner of the photo is an actual fossilised alien that is partially covered in some kind stone.

You can clearly see the skull area which looks mostly intact and its skin appears to still cover its skull, but its most likely that all original parts have been replaced by minerals which is probably what we are looking at. Its a great preservation of a alien specimen. Look closely and alter the color and you will clearly see the fingers still embedded in the stone. The finger bones stand out nicely. Also lower where you would expect to find legs you find...legs.

This may be the worlds greatest discovery ever in both palaeontology and archaeology. Notice that NASA conveniently put a measuring ruler below so we can easily determine the correct hight of the alien if it stood on its legs as we do. It would be between 30-35 cm tall or 11-13.7 inches. Makes you think all those stories about little green men from Mars might not be just stories after all but may be based on fact. There are some paradigms gonna be broken this weekend in Minnesota. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, my paradigms will be safe and sound in Wisconsin, because I only found out about the Paradigm Symposium of ancient alien lore today by pure chance, and I will not be going.

As UFO and paranormal events go, this one looks like a real corker. Erich Freaking von Daniken will be there, for God's sake. So will George Noory. Also the guy with the hair. I hate to miss that kind of paranormal starpower, especially when it's only a few hours away. This show has got it all: slick website, beautiful setting, sponsorships from basic cable series; you name it, they've got it.

Spotted in an article from Intrepid Magazine" entitled "Are UFO Believers Crazy?" First, magazine writer, could you explain the nonsense term "UFO Believers"?

Naturally, I wanted to know who was behind the Symposium. Turns out the event is being put on by" Intrepid Magazine "and "The Gralien Report," two big-time online journals of strangeness. Needless to say, I have never heard of either of them. I wonder why. Maybe because both journals seem to embrace a combination of pseudo-scientific speculation (in which I have great interest) and vehement conservative politics (in which I have none).

Here's a good example of what makes me uncomfortable with a UFO magazine. Articles entitled "How to Treat Your Own Gunshot Wound... Naturally!" make me uncomfortable. And yet, that article is featured in the online preview issue of "Intrepid. "And it's not a joke.

So, on balance, I'm not entirely disappointed not to be going. But I will be going in a way. I am signing on to follow as many of the presenters on Twitter as I possibly can, so I can learn the latest in strangeness and report back to you. Considering the Minneapolis Doubletree Hotel is liable to filled with hundreds of people staggering around with weeping gunshot wounds this weekend, it seems the safest way to attend.
