UFO SIGHTING IN SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA ON OCTOBER 17TH 2013 - BRIGHT LIGHT, BRIGHTER AND LARGER THAN ANY STAR, HOVERED THEN DIMMED TO ALMOST NOTHING, THEN QUICKLY FLEW NORTH

Just a few hours ago at 5:37am on 17 October, 2013, I went out for a smoke. I immediately noticed a bright stationary light in the dark sky. This light was brighter and larger than any star in the sky and I knew it wasn't a star. For comparison, it was at least twice the size and brightness of any star. It was just hovering there for 5 to 10 seconds. Then it slowly winked-out or dimmed to almost nothing over a 2 second period of time. I could barely see the light after it dimmed so much; but, I could still make out a light. This dim light went from a stationary position to out of site in less than an additional 10 seconds. I looked around for a bit longer, but was getting cold. I went in the house and got a jacket and a quick bite to eat. As soon as I came back out, directly above me, were 2 fast moving lights. I only saw these last 2 lights for 5 seconds before they also winked-out or dimmed away to being not visible straight up overhead. I could not see anything after they dimmed; but the sun was coming up and it was not dark enough to see a dim light. These last 2 lights were at 6:14am. These lights were not planes or satellites. There was no sound for any of the lights.

my 17 yr old son & his friend came to get me about the strange light. they said they had seen it the night before too. when i saw it it was hovering, not moving. we grabed binoculars. the light on the left was blue-ish the light on the right was red. the lights were not blinking. the light was in the SE horizon. the it took off really fast & ended up in the western horizon. the sped off south & disappeared. about 30 seconds later it reappeared to the south of us. it sped to the south west very fast again & then stopped in one spot for about 20-30 seconds. then it sped off to the south & disappeaed again.(via MUFON.com) Learn about: Paranormal Studies and UFO Research. "It may seem paradoxical to talk about "news" on a retro-themed blog, but the traditional Fortean fascination with weird news for its own sake" - rather than being pitched as evidence for some specific theory or other - seems to be increasingly a thing of the past. I think that's a shame, and it's one of the reasons I still look forward to getting "Fortean Times" every month. While its online competitors are busy promulgating their favourite conspiracy theories, the magazine - as it says right there on the cover - remains dedicated to "The World's Weirdest News Stories".

There are a couple of really good ones in the current issue, January 2015 (pictured above, together with the January issues from 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010). On page 9 there's the story of a London shopkeeper who was robbed last September after being put in a hypnotic trance by a customer, the whole thing having been caught on CCTV. Then page 26 has a collection of stories, all from 2014, about various people who turned out to be alive after being declared dead by doctors.

While these stories may lack the kneejerk "like-share-comment" appeal of a Bigfoot sighting or UFO encounter, they do have two major advantages over big-ticket Forteana of that kind. For one thing, they're not just anecdotal events - they're a matter of public record, with multiple witnesses. Secondly, there's no obvious CSICOP-style wet blanket that can be thrown over them. With Bigfoot, for example, the skeptics can always say it was a bear or someone dressed in an ape costume. On the other hand, I really can't see how they could debunk the hypno-heist - except perhaps to claim the shopkeeper was a willing participant who helped set the whole thing up for the cameras. But if that was the case, I'm sure the police would have had something to say about it - wasting their time is a criminal offence in Britain, after all.

One of the strongest arguments against claims of the paranormal - or any kind of enhanced mental powers - is that if people really possessed them they would use them to make money. That's another thing I like about this story: if a person was capable of hypnotizing someone into doing something they didn't want to do, this is exactly the sort of thing they would do. They would be out robbing wine merchants, not wasting their time appearing on "Britain's Got Talent". The only thing I find suspicious about the story is that it only happened once - not a whole string of times.

The other story, about people "coming back from the dead", is even harder to debunk. The doctor writes out a death certificate, and the victim is seen alive some time after that - it's as simple as that. Of course, they didn't really die and come back to life; they were alive all along and the doctor just made a mistake. But that's not debunking the mystery - it's confirming it. The mystery in this case is how someone who is alive can display all the symptoms of being dead. Whatever the explanation is, it's unlikely to be a purely recent phenomenon - which means that countless people may have been unwittingly buried alive over the years!

If you look at the cover of the magazine, "The Return of the Living Dead" and "Hypno-Heists" are the second and third items listed under "The World's Weirdest News Stories". The first item is "Unidentified Flying Humans", referring to the case of a commercial airliner which reported a near miss with a human-like figure last October.

Unlike the other two stories, this one was picked up big-time by numerous online Fortean blogs, forums and websites. The general approach was to give a single-sentence summary of the encounter and then use it as a springboard for wild speculations about (a) extraterrestrial visitors to the Earth, (b) highly evolved flying reptiles surviving undetected since the Jurassic period, (c) secret military research on personal flying suits, and any number of similarly offbeat ideas.

The piece in "Fortean Times", written by Jenny Randles, takes a completely different approach to the same subject matter. Instead of extracting a few details from newspaper accounts and making them fit a pet theory, she took the trouble to find out "more "facts about the case, not fewer. It turned out, for example, that the plane in question was on a completely different heading and at a much lower altitude than it should have been, having just recovered from an aborted landing. That doesn't explain the encounter, but it does make it more likely that it was a fleetingly glimpsed paraglider or something of that kind. This sort of data-driven thinking - as opposed to theory-driven - is another reason I like the magazine so much.

The secretive BLUE ORIGIN SPACEFLIGHT COMPANY, owned by Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos, successfully tested its emergency rocket escape system, a capsule-based pad abort concept, for a new private spaceship in October 2012. NASA's Commercial Crew Program (CCP) partner Blue Origin conducted a successful pad escape test Friday at the company's West Texas launch site, firing its pusher-escape motor and launching a full-scale suborbital crew capsule from a simulated propulsion module.The suborbital crew capsule traveled to an altitude of 2,307 feet (703 meters) during the flight test before descending safely by parachute to a soft landing 1,630 feet (497 meters) away.The pusher escape system was designed and developed by Blue Origin to allow crew escape in the event of an emergency during any phase of ascent for its suborbital New Shepard system. As part of an incremental development program, the results of this test will shape the design of the escape system for the company's orbital biconic-shaped Space Vehicle. However, other claims by Lazar did not pan out. He said he received degrees from the California Institute of Technology and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, neither of which can be confirmed.

For a large part of the 90s Lazar's claims made big news, and became the bedrock for claims of ET technology being horded by the United States government. This has lead to Area 51 getting the legendary status it currently enjoys, although at the same time it remains a top secret facility.

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office in eastern Ohio received a call in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 4 from a man claiming he encountered extraterrestrials.

Deputy Rick Morrison told the Times Reporter that the 28-year-old man contacted the sheriff's office at 1:36 a.m. saying that he had experienced car trouble shortly after "subjects not of this world" ordered him to drive to an abandon field.

Upon arriving at the destination, the man said, the aliens informed him the field would reveal itself to be an airport where extraterrestrials would pick him up.

According to Deputy Rick Morrison from the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office, the man told him that he had been the victim of extraterrestrial abduction in the past.

The man told police that he had been walking for hours before calling them. Deputy Morrison told Times Reporter that "it was obvious that the man had walked for a long distance, as he had blisters on his feet - even though he was wearing shoes." Police suspect the man walked south on Route 800 from Stark County into Tuscarawas County where he made the call.

Police were unable to locate the man's car, but they suspect it is somewhere in Stark County. The Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office did not release the man's name.

Welcome to the third post in my continuing series of different collections of Fortean photos. If you missed the last two; you can find the UFO photo post here and you can also find the Ghosts photo post here. Tonight I will take you through a few of the more famous, and some infamous, photos that allege to be of Extraterrestrials. Just like the last two posts, I will give you the pictures followed by a little blurb about them.

First up is a still frame image from the famous Alien Autopsy footage This footage was originally aired in the United States on a FOX TV special entitled Alien Autopsy: Fact or Fiction. The footage purports to be from an actual alien autopsy performed by some unknown scientists. The video has long been considered by most as a hoax, but the film itself is very interesting. I highly suggest that you look it up and watch it. There is something very surreal about it, you know beyond the fact that an 'alien' is being dissected. (For an amazingly lucid take on this footage, I suggest checking out what the late Mac Tonnies had to say about the film here)

Next is the Cumberland Spaceman photo The story behind this photo is relatively straight forward. James Timpleton was taking a picture of his daughter in a field with obviously no one behind her, but when the photo was developed the father noticed that there was a person that appears to be wearing a spacesuit behind his daughter. This story definitely has shades of ghost photography in it, with the whole 'nothing was there when the photo was taken, but upon development something out of the ordinary was in it'.

Third is the small figure from Mexico " I wasn't really able to dig a whole lot up about this photo, but it along with the next photo were both from the Faces of the Visitors" book I mentioned in this post.

Tomato Man This photo supposedly shows the remains of an alien that died upon impact, after it's craft crashed somewhere near Laredo, Texas.

Last but not least is George W Bush shaking an aliens hand!It's true! The government really is in on the alien cover-up. After all there is George W Bush shaking hands with one of them! In case you couldn't recognise this photo, it originated from the old tabloid paper Weekly World News. Really I only included it because I always wondered if there really was anybody out there that actually believed in the validity of this photo.

Well Forteans we have come to the end of tonight's post and just like the last two photo posts we are left scratching our heads wondering about how credible these photos truly are. I for one don't put too much stock into them, but then again I can't rule them out either. If they are fakes, some of them (the alien autopsy footage for example) have been really well done. Supposition I must acclaim that for being I worked nights and listened to Art Warning and his fast for disturbance. But that was 6 or 7 being ago and after unification the "backdrop" dayshift folk I haven't heard outlying in the way of conspiracy theory-UFO-Shadow people-Sasquatch-cemtrail talk at all. Tenure. I dream I may decent miss it. A willowy small bit. I'm a pale 54 y/o sea green at aim gentleman who makes topo maps and sells conceal being I ability equivalence bugging personnel.

Pleasantly, I'm serious take in to Elkins Place, PA (decent north of Philly) after our first softball game (we won 18-0) from Conshohocken on Hand 309 (yeah, the (give the right immature) Waits 309) later than one of the girls on my splinter group leave-taking relatively outlying west to east being I saw a beaming, greenish stabbing object. I loud and understood "look as if at that", the young woman understood "Wow" and thus it was gone. Beneath than a painstaking. Absent. The rule was out my passenger side forefront windshield, so I'm guessing it was flying east to south. Able-bodied low and decent a penalize angle to the horizon. Moderately long tail and, equivalence I mentioned class of greenish in color.

I cast-off to nickname stare and last seen plentiful, plentiful stabbing stars. I've seen a rainbow at night. I've seen the moon dispose beaming red, thus orangey to blond to normal in the Shenandoah valley. To say the lowest amount, I've seen plentiful wild supplies, but zero equivalence what I saw last night. Though it was equitably speedily. It was very brand new and unexplainable in my willowy brain.

The agency's Moon Mineralogy Mapper discovered water molecules in the moon's polar regions, while water vapour was detected by NASA's Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite, or LCROSS. Mini-SAR, a lightweight (less than 10 kg) imaging radar, and Moon Mineralogy Mapper are two of 11 instruments carried by the Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) Chandrayaan-1. The Mini-SAR has imaged many of the permanently shadowed regions that exist at both poles of the moon. These dark areas are extremely cold and it has been hypothesised that volatile material, including water ice, could be present in quantity there. The main science object of the Mini-SAR experiment is to map and characterise any deposits that exist. Numerous craters near the poles of the moon have interiors that are in permanent sun shadow. These areas are very cold and water ice is stable there, essentially indefinitely. Fresh craters show high degrees of surface roughness (high circular polarisation ratio - CPR) both inside and outside the crater rim, caused by sharp rocks and block fields that are distributed over the entire crater area, NASA said. However, Mini-SAR has found craters near the north pole that have high CPR inside, but not outside their rims. This relation suggests that the high CPR is not caused by roughness, but by some material that is restricted within the interiors of these craters. "We interpret this relation as consistent with water ice present in these craters. The ice must be relatively pure and at least a couple of metres thick to give this signature," NASA said. The estimated amount of water ice potentially present is comparable to the quantity estimated solely from the previous mission of Lunar Prospector's neutron data (several hundred million metric tons). The variation in the estimates between Mini-SAR and the Lunar Prospector's neutron spectrometer is due to the fact that it only measures to depths of about one-half metre, so it would underestimate the total quantity of water ice present, NASA said. DECEMBER 5, 2010 ALBUQUERQUE NEW MEXICO

About 3:45 or 4:00 a.m. on 12/5/2010 I opened the sliding glass door on the north side of our house to let my dogs out to relieve themselves and out of the corner of my right eye I saw a bright white light so I turned to face it and observed what appeared to be a very bright, circular white light above the horizon of the Sandia Mtns. In the background of sky there are in fact two bright yellowish lights that are visible every night; both on the crest of the Sandias and apart from one another and this light was "centered" and above them and the sight of it APPEARED TO BE A TRIANGLE with the yellow lights of Sandia Crest on the left and the light of the Sandia Peak Tram house on the right forming the "base" of the triangle along the Sandia Crest and the bright light forming the peak of the triangle at the top. I started to dismiss my initial sighting of the light as the moment when an aircraft turned on it's landing lights and I must have seen it as it was moving towards me. so I waited to see if it would turn toward the south to Albuquerque International or westward to Double Eagle. It seemed peculiar to me that it was taking entirely too long for any "aircraft" to reach me; the night was perfectly quiet, there was no jet engine noise or prop noise, there were no strobe lights or red and green wingtip lights, no automobile noises to muffle the sounds that should have been there. I looked closely at the white light and observed that it seemed to flicker somewhat along the edges and "wobble" side to side and up and down, but it certainly was not getting any closer to my location it was just up in the sky shining brightly hovering as it were and then as I watched the light IT WENT OUT!

It just vanished completely from my sight! The night was still perfectly quiet and there were no sounds, and there were no strobes or red and green wingtip lights that I could observe, and no competing automobile noises as I listened for some jet engine noise or propellers beating the air like a helicopter or airplane would. There was no sound. I was stumped. I didn't know what I had seen and I certainly couldn't identify it either. As my dogs were coming back in I couldn't help looking toward the Sandia Mountains for one final look and just as suddenly as it had disappeared, it REAPPEARED in the very same area it was before! Wow! It was there, I didn't imagine it. Where had it gone and where did it come from? It was now clear to me that there was a very real, very curious event indeed going on and I was a witness to it. I observed the same behavior as before but then as I watched the light rotated from pointing straight toward me to my left and faced to the north. It remained there and looked like a cone. A cone of white light with the smaller end facing south and the wider end facing north. I am not sure how long it remained this way, it got dimmer and bright again and again and as I was observing the "cone" of bright light the entire cone rotated back to it's left and faced westward again. It continued to brighten and dim somewhat for several minutes I started to think it was similar to the lights over Phoenix, but only one light here, and then, as I watched, it just went off like someone flipped a switch; and as I looked at the place where the incredibly bright white light used to be, there was now what appeared to be a glowing "ember" that was colored yellow and grew steadily smaller and smaller until it finally disappeared completely and I saw it no more. I was drinking coffe with my friend at the lake Jarun in Zagreb (Croatia),i took 3 pictures (left,right and last middle),there was nothing unusual i just wanted to capture the nature,so when i got home and look at the pictures the middle picture had a black spot and i thought i burned my phone lcd display and i panickly zoomed to see if the display was damaged.To my suprise after zooming the object i realised i captchured something wierd.

BLACK TRIANGLE SIGHTING IN CHANDLER, ARIZONA ON JUNE 18TH 2013 - BRIGHT LIGHT, PULSATING, CHANGING COLORS RAPIDILY, HOVERING

I live in Chandler, AZ. On June 18, 2013, I was on my balcony looking West when I saw a very bright light, hovering. It was West of the Chandler Mall. It has to be within 10-20 miles from me. It would move extremely slow in different directions, right to left, but mainly stayed hovering or stationary. It would start flickering with colored lights, rapidly, then go back to just a bright white light. The flickering lights kept the same distance and pattern. It has been back to the same location for 5 nights since June 18th. Sometimes its stays 2 1/2 hours or so and other times I've seen it, it stays maybe not 2 hours. It will either just disappear or seem to fade out. Is this a satellite? I look forward to hearing back from you after reviewing the photos, video I have attached. Thank you for your time!
