"FULL DESCRIPTION OF EVENT/SIGHTING:" This is the first time I have ever written of this event. Late evening around 9:30 p.m., we were coming home from my aunts house in Spring Valley NY. We were in my mothers Toyota, Corolla teal green hatchback.
The color is important to the story. As we were driving along I noticed something pretty far away scanning the forest, that is parallel to the Parkway, with a beam of intense white light. It was just scanning as if looking for something.
There weren't any other vehicles on the road, traveling east or west. I was sitting in the backseat and my mother drove, the windows in the back did not roll down, but opened a little with a push-out lever, so that it pushed outwards about 3 inches only from the back part of the window.
It's hard to describe unless you've ridden in one. I kept watching it as it slowly made its way closer towards the Parkway. It was eventually going to intersect the with the lanes. As it went over the car, the beam changed color from white to the exact color of the car, a brilliant teal-green/blue beam of light.
The beam also narrowed just to barely encompass the car. At this point my mother began to get scared and wanted to get home as soon as possible. I tried in vain to look at the object from the back of the car. I couldn't get my head out of the window to get a real good look.
It followed us for what seemed like 5 minutes and then crossed the highway and the beam changed back to white again and began to continue scanning the woods for something. We reached exit 12 which was the Mt Ivy Route 45 exit back then.
We got off the Parkway and turned onto Route 45, made a right as we traveled less than 1/4 mile. We were on a sort of elevated hill as we came into Mt Ivy. I could then see the object clearly because it was only 300 feet away from the car.
It's hard to describe, it had a cylindrical shape, but not uniform. It looked metallic and rotated had a small red light on top, looked like a probe of some sort. It had markings of some kind as well. As we went down the hill it continued west and was now parallel to Route 202 heading towards Suffern.
We live in Pomo Andna so we had to travel 3 minutes more on Route 202. I saw it it get further and further away from us just scanning the woods with its spotlight. We get home soon after and we get out of the car get inside.
There was a bright full moon that night, mom got her house key out, opened the door and we ran in. We went straight to bed and we never talked about the incident. Many thing are odd about that entire night.
Firstly, we always went to my Aunt's house on the weekend, but we never took the Parkway because it doesn't make sense.
We would have gone on Route 45 which connects Spring Valley to Pomona by a more direct route only turning onto Route 202 for the last 3 miles of the trip.
Secondly, I remember traveling south instead of north when we approach Exit 12. That makes no sense because we would have been coming in from Upstate NY and we never did that.
Thirdly, whenever we got home we always talked and watched TV and stayed up until midnight. That didn't happen.
Other things happened consequently, but that for another time, nose bleeds, migraines and horrible dreams of not being alone at night. A mysterious presence and a petrifying fear of something in my room at night that plagued me for years.

'ARGO'
Studio Six was a CIA front during a 1979-80 deception operation. The 'Argo' script itself served a purpose and a film was never actually produced. In 2012, a movie of the same name was released and based on events surrounding the original operation.

He contributed his expertise to such productions as 'Lost in Space', 'Night Gallery' and 'The Island of Dr. Moreau'. Bearman identified Chambers as a friend to Mendez and "one of Mendez's longtime CIA collaborators."
Bearman also wrote about the role of professional makeup artist Robert Sidell in the operation. Sidell posed as producer while manning phone lines, fielding press inquiries and handling similar such responsibilities. The Tinseltown veteran was nominated four times during his career for an Emmy Award, including once in 1980 for his work with Chambers on the sci fi television show, 'Beyond Westworld'. He also received nominations for his work on the shows 'The Waltons' and 'Dynasty', as well as the 1982 blockbuster film, 'E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial'.
Mendez stated in 'A Classic Case of Deception, CIA Goes Hollywood' that while employed with the CIA Office of Technical Service Disguise Section he engaged the services of many consultants in the entertainment industry. I was surprised by a streak of green, almost white light across the sky, just south of the city. I thought it was a falling star at first, but the line was perfectly straight, as if drawn by a ruler. It was a very crisp, laser-like line and at the end of this line was an object that was shaped like a bell. It seemed as if this bell shaped object shot across the sky, stopped and then disappeared, all in about 5 seconds. I spent the rest of the drive home trying to rationalize what I had just seen.

Whether it be strange lights in the night sky, an animal or creature that is not known to modern "mainstream" science, or an encounter with a ghostly apparition or phantom-like being, stories have been, and will continue to be, told by people who, perhaps by chance, had a run-in with something they can't easily explain or comprehend easily.
In the last 60 years a small number of stories have been reported of encounters with a strange humanoid creature, that many perceive as "monovalent", and has become linked with the enigmatic world of UFO folklore. It is called, " THE GRINNING MAN ", for in all of the encounters had with this being, one element stands out as most memorable - the maniacal grin this being has on its face when seen.
The creature was first apparently encountered in 1966, according to John Keel, the paranormal investigator who would bring another famous cryptic, Mothman, to the worlds' attention. In his 1970 book "Strange Creatures from Time and Space", Keel relates what is considered to be the first recorded modern encounter with this "man" with the sinister smile. It involved 2 boys walking along a street in New Jersey in October 1966. The boys were walking in the same area that earlier that day a woman had reported being chased by a "tall, green man", and the two were nervous about the story. They were to report later that they saw perhaps the same man, standing behind a fence in some brush, looking at a house across the road from the boys. The being was behind them, and was wearing a green one-piece suit that reflected the streetlights nearby. It noticed the boys looking at him, turned and began to smile - a grin that stretched from ear to ear. Having elongated eyes, the boys could not make out whether the creature had ears, a nose or hair.
That same night, miles away, reports of a "bright-white" UFO began filtering in to the police, and several officers reportedly saw the object themselves hovering near a local reservoir. Many began to claim the encounters were linked, perhaps correctly assuming the being was an alien stranded or was being sought after by the "UFO".
Three weeks later, a sewing machine salesman claims to have been stopped on a highway by a strange looking automobile. A man appeared from a hatch on the side of the vehicle, and a tall, bald man wearing a blue metallic suit approached the man. He could see the "man" had "slightly elongated" eyes and a demented grin that could be seen glinting in the cars headlights. The GRINNING MAN identified himself as Indrid Cold, and the two had a bizarre telepathic conversation before the entity left, saying they would see each other again. This first encounter took place in or near Point Pleasant, the area that a couple of weeks later would begin reporting sightings of Mothman, a famous cryptic said to be responsible for deaths in a bridge collapse.
The salesman, Woodrow Derenberger, would go on to claim that Indrid Cold would visit him, and would reveal that he was an alien from a planet called Lanulos, situated in another galaxy. Derenberger claimed to have visited Cold on his home world,and met many other beings like Indrid Cold in his travels. He would write a book about his experiences, but would lose his job, his wife and some say his sanity in the years after., dying in 1990, some saying his obsession with his grinning friend cost him his life.
Sceptics argue that an interview Derenberger agreed to with a local TV station shortly after his first encounter shows elements of fabrication, and point to perhaps Derenberger coming up with the more fantastical claims later, perhaps after reading Keels' books.
Reports of "tall, GRINNING MEN" have been made in regards to night prowler incidents, where someone is seen at the foot of someone's bed, or entering or leaving a residence, and scarily sometimes even in tales of alien abduction.
