POPULAR FANTASY BECOMES CULTURAL 'FACT'

Later in this article, the recent claims are highlighted and addressed. Because we have written much in recent years about the growing popularity of what is commonly called the UFO phenomenon, this article will only briefly touch on what underpins this cultural phenomenon. Many of our original arguments and explanations are still relevant to these new speculative claims that appear in the media. This article provides many links to relevant articles already on creation.com, and we recommend spending time reading and researching these links and articles before commenting on this one (particularly before writing in, per the feedback rules of this site). It is impossible to cover every question raised by this phenomenon in one article, so for a comprehensive and up-to-date treatise we recommend the latest edition of the best-seller "Alien Intrusion: UFOs and the Evolution Connection (AI)" which has new first-hand research, or visit the aliens/UFOs section of our site.

"FIGHT THE FUTURE! JOIN THE RESISTANCE @ FACEBOOK/WATCHERREPORT!"
The subject matter largely eludes the attention of the American public for reasons including the topic typically invokes uncomfortable emotions and is a national embarrassment, resulting in minimal and sugar coated media attention. The vast majority of the American public therefore simply remains unaware of its nation's history of exploiting vulnerable, uninformed human research subjects.
While some readers may indeed be at least somewhat familiar with circumstances related to Project MKULTRA, radiation experiments and similar such atrocities, a reasonable argument can be made that members of the UFO community, as compared to the population at large, should particularly educate themselves about the exploitation of human research subjects, as it carries substantial implications to ufology. Numerous verified covert and exploitative state-sponsored research projects consisted of methodology, objectives and resulting testimonies from research subjects that are easily correlated with prevalent themes and witness testimonies commonly found throughout ufology.
Many relevant questions arise. To what extent does the exploitation of involuntary human research subjects continue and in what ways? Where do we find accurate information, when the UFO community and Internet is so littered with sensationalized exaggerations, hoaxes and disturbingly paranoid conspiracy theories? How do we responsibly delve into such subject matter without instigating more inaccurate rumors and the often accompanying poorly conceived lines of premature assertions and faulty logic?
One strategy to find answers is to take a look at what lawmakers are doing and current policies on state-sponsored research involving the use of human subjects. If we limit our research sources to verified documents and relevant quotes, in compliance with best practices in research and reporting, we can at the least separate what has actually taken place and truly been stated from that which has not. The implications of facts can be debated, but facts themselves are easy to establish and not open to debate.
Former Astronaut John Glenn
While serving 25 years as an Ohio Senator (2), former astronaut John Glenn proposed the Human Research Subject Protection Act (3) in 1997. The bill called for measures such as further accountability among researchers and funding agencies as well as penalties for non-adherence. While arguing on behalf of the bill, then-Senator Glenn stated:
I have been in public life and have served this country for many years. Frankly, I do not think too many things that I see surprise me anymore about our laws and about government. Three years ago, though, I began to learn about a gap in our legal system that does truly concern me. In 1993 the Governmental Affairs Committee began to investigate the cold war radiation experiments. These experiments are one of the unfortunate legacies of the cold war, when our government sponsored experiments involving radiation on our own citizens without their consent. They did not even know the experiments were being run on them. It was without their consent.
One of the most infamous of these experiments took place in my own State of Ohio, when scores of patients at the University of Cincinnati were subjected to large doses of radiation during experimental treatments, without their consent, without their informed consent. During the course of this investigation, I began to ask the question, what protections are in place to prevent such abuses from happening again? What law prohibits experimenting on people without their informed consent?
What I found, when I looked into it, is there is no law on the books requiring that informed consent be obtained...
Everyone listening today probably has heard of the Nuremberg Code. That is the list of 10 ethical research principles which were produced as part of the judgment against Nazi physicians who engaged in truly heinous medical experiments during World War II.
The first principle of the Nuremberg Code states that the voluntary consent of the human subject of research is absolutely essential. Unfortunately, as we look back through our history since the late 1940's, it appears that researchers in America may not have taken all that Nuremberg lesson completely to heart...
But to do research on people when they don't even know what the research or the medicines or the radiation is that is being tried on them, I think is unconscionable.
What it comes down to is there are no criminal fines or penalties for violating the spirit or the letter of that Nuremberg Code that should be the basis of all of our informed consent in this country.
In spite of the efforts of Glenn, there are still no such laws or penalties in place. His bill did not pass. Neither individual researchers nor their funding agencies are held criminally liable for violating the rights of human research subjects when done for purposes that can be defined as matters of national security.
It should be noted that millions of dollars have been paid by the federal government in civil judgments to abused research subjects or their surviving loved ones. However, no criminal cases have ever been tried because, simply put and as John Glenn observed and warned, it is not against the law and it never has been. Perhaps it is additionally worthy of consideration that although members of the UFO community frequently describe medical procedures conducted by alleged aliens as unforgivably intrusive violations of fundamental universal rights, a perspective commonly hoped to be held among all well intentioned higher functioning beings, the U.S. federal government does not share the perspective. A closer review obviously informs us that the United States federal government has a long, detailed and confirmed history of conducting such procedures while defining them as matters of national security, or at least this is the case when said procedures are conducted by federally-funded human beings.

April 2,1969 was to have been the first day of classes of the spring quarter at Northwestern University, but classes were delayed one day in memory of former president Dwight Eisenhower, who was being laid to rest that day. In absence of classes, a talk on UFOs by Dr. J. Allen Hynek was announced for that evening in the main lounge of McCulloch Hall, a freshman men's dormitory. I cannot recall a talk by a faculty member ever being given in such a location. It is pure accident that I even heard that the talk was being given, for no notices were posted on all-school bulletin boards or in classroom buildings. Instead, mimeographed notices were posted in all the freshman men's dorms, and to the best of my knowledge, only there, This is the only time I know of that only freshmen were notified of a talk that is theoretically open to all students, or even to the public. (Nothing would have stopped a non-university person from coming, had he known about it.) The result of this is that, to the best of my knowledge, my friend and I were the only non-freshman in the audience of about 70 persons in the lounge.
Hynek's unamplified voice is not distinct on my tape, but some highly significant comments were made. He deviated only slightly from his standard UFO lecture, keeping the same jokes and comments as usual.
Hynek said that it is particularly easy to judge witnessess' credibility when they send in handwritten reports, for handwriting analysis provides us with a lot of information about them. He talked as if this were highly reliable.
He concentrated on criticizing the Condon report. He says we have all been indoctrinated by newspapers to believe the report, and to think that it is the final word on UFO'S. His main criticism of the report is that they explained the easy cases, and did not even choose to tackle the difficult ones, He plotted his own Sigma-C graph [strangeness vs. credibility] of Condon's cases, and found the high-Sigma [strangeness], high-C [credibility] sadly lacking.
He was greatly upset by Condon defining a UFO to be anything that the witness is unable to identify. Hynek would say that a UFO is only a thing that a trained investigator is not able to identify (although the trained investigator did not see it.). This led to an interesting exchange later. Hynek feels that by calling anything that was once unidentified a UFO, we are going to open the floodgates to let all sorts of nonsense pour in. I would grant that this will happen, but if this be the stuff that most UFO's are comprised of, so be it. Dr. Hynek would not even call something a UFO unless it had defied analysis by "competent, qualified scientists."
Hynek feels that Dr. Condon is a great scientist, but is out of his element in the UFO field. Condon is "used to working with precise data," and would be as out of place in economics or sociology as he is in UFOlogy.
When he showed the slides of the Calgary photographs [figures 4 and 5 in Hynek's The UFO Experience ], he said that there is no doubt that this is a real image of something (which it probably is). Granting that it may be a hubcap or anything else, to him the question is, "Who is 60 miles southwest of Calgary, in very rough country, throwing up hubcaps?" (The photographer's friend, perhaps?)
For the ordinary UFO reports, all these demonstrate is that the "average person cannot distinguish Venus from a hole in the ground". How we are to obtain worthwhile scientific data from such persons he did not say.
We saw the most interesting slide of a science-fictiony drawing of a little green man, complete with winged ears, long, slender arms, and a muscular torso. "This is not a laughing matter", he sternly said to silence our chuckles,
"We have a good many reports, which I don't particularly like to publicize", he continued, because they are always met with laughter, "But I can't help it," he said frantically, "The reports exist." The tape clearly shows his voice rise in both volume and emotional opulence, "And they seem to be made by people of good credibility. At any rate," he concluded,"these sort of things are important".
Hynek lamented that he was unable to devote more than 10% of his time to UFOs, though to many of us it seemed like considerably more. It seems fair to ask that when a professor is not teaching any courses, and is not engaged in any research projects, as was the case last fall, what does he do with the remaining 90% of his time? Perhaps he is designing a course on UFOs, something he has expressed a desire to do.
During the question and answer session, he was asked how a UFO could stop a car magnetically without leaving any magnetic imprints in the metal, as was the finding of the Condon committee. He replied that the question was not, "Was the car magnetized?", but rather, "Did it indeed stop?", leaving the door open for even more absurd explanations. When the day comes that science has finally mastered the mysterious UFO rays, he seemed to imply, we will be able to look back and say 'this great discovery was made by chasing UFOs.'
On the Hill case, Hynek said that he had Dr. Simon hypnotize them [Betty and Barney] for an hour and a half in his presence. They are now so far gone that they can be hypnotized by a single word from their "trainer," even if it is on tape! Barney Hill showed great terror when his abduction was re-enacted under hypnosis, with sweat pouring down his face. It seemed Hynek was trying to prove veracity by the man's hysteria.
I took the liberty of asking about the discrepancy between the Hynek and Condon definitions of UFO, and wondered if the latter might no be more appropriate. If we fail to perceive the high-Sigma [strangeness], high-C [credibility] cases as being strongly non-representative, is this not an error? He interpreted my question as was most convenient to him, and said that it is only lack of funds and time that prevents all cases from being investigated. I am convinced that this was a dodge, as his later remarks show that he understood my question perfectly. We should want to start with the reliable cases, he says, and, "once established" that we have a phenomenon (which I am as yet unwilling to grant), we can proceed from there. "If you had several stacks of hay, and you know there's a needle in one of them (which we don't), you will try to pick the haystack that you think is most likely to have the needle".
A bit unhappy, I rephrased my question and refused to be brushed off. Comparing the situation to ESP, I showed that ignoring the large mass of data and concentrating on the top will lead to erroneous conclusions. He attempted to show that there are too many UFO reports to apply this (though he earlier said that there may be 5,000,000 "junk" reports), made another haystacks analogy, and quickly rushed on to the next question.
His famous Northern Lights analogy ['the science of the 18th century was as baffled by the Northern Lights as the science of today is by UFOs'] was changed from the l8th century to 1900. Hynek would be defenseless without analogies.
At the end of his talk, he requested that anyone having good, reliable UFO reports should come forward and report them.
Now you, too, dear reader, know how freshman orientation proceeds at Northwestern. Why were no signs announcing that talk posted on classroom bulletin boards, or in dorms where upperclassmen live? Why was it not announced in the school paper like all other faculty lectures? Why was it held in the lounge of a Freshman dorm? "As the twig is bent, so grows the tree." It appears that Dr. J. Allen Hynek has been doing a little gardening.

Se supon'ia que se atrofiaba y dejaba de trabajar en la adolescencia, tanto es que durante d'ecadas los m'edicos americanos bombardeaban timos perfectamente saludables con altas dosis de rayos X, creyendo que su 'tama~no anormal' podr'ia causar problemas.
M'as tarde la ciencia demostr'o que, as'i mismo encogi'endose despu'es de la infancia, el sigue siendo activo; es uno de los pilares de nuestro sistema inmunol'ogico, junto con las gl'andulas adrenales y la espina dorsal y est'a directamente conectado a los sentidos, la conciencia y el lenguaje.

Pensamientos negativos tienen m'as poder sobre 'el, que los virus y bacterias.
Como esa actitud negativa no existe en forma concreta, el timo intenta reaccionar y se debilita, luchando contra un invasor desconocido y abre espacios para s'intomas de baja inmunidad, como los herpes.
En compensaci'on, pensamientos positivos consiguen activar todos sus poderes, recordando que la fe remueve monta~nas.
Un test del pensamiento
Este simple test puede demostrar esa conexi'on.
Cierra los dedos pulgar e 'indice en la posici'on de 'ok', apriete con fuerza y pida a alguien para intentar abrirlos en cuanto piensa 'estoy feliz'.
Despu'es repita pensando ' estoy infeliz'.
La mayor'ia de las personas conserva la fuerza en los dedos con el pensamiento feliz y se debilita cuando piensa que est'a infeliz.
(Sustituya los pensamientos por un delicioso helado de chocolate, una torta de coco, rellena con crema, para ver que sucede...)
Ese mismo test sirve para diagnosticar situaciones bastante m'as complejas.
Por ejemplo, el m'edico necesita un diagn'ostico diferencial, su paciente tiene s'intomas en el h'igado que tanto pueden significar c'ancer, cuanto abscesos por amebas.
Usando l'aminas con muestras o mismo representaciones gr'aficas de una u otra hip'otesis, testea la fuerza muscular del paciente estando en contacto con ellas y llega al resultado deseado.
Las reacciones son consideradas respuestas del timo y el m'etodo, que ha sido demostrado en congresos cient'ificos alrededor del mundo, ya es ense~nado en la Universidad de Sao Paulo (Brasil) y a m'edicos acupunturistas.
El detalle curioso es que el timo queda bien pegado al coraz'on que se acaba ganando todos los cr'editos con relaci'on a sentimientos, emociones, decisiones, manera de hablar, de escuchar, estado de esp'iritu, etc...'

Por la ma~nana, al levantar, o en la noche antes de acostarse:
a) - De pie, las rodillas ligeramente dobladas, (la distancia entre los pies debe ser la misma de los hombros). Ponga el peso del cuerpo sobre los dedos y no sobre el tal'on y mantenga toda la musculatura bien relajada.
b) - Cierre cualquier de las manos y comience a dar golpecitos continuados con los nudos de los dedos en el centro del pecho, marcando el ritmo as'i: una fuerte y dos d'ebiles. Siga haci'endolo entre 3 y 5 minutos, respirando tranquilamente, mientras observa la vibraci'on producida en toda la regi'on tor'acica. (Yo hago 20 toques por la ma~nana y 20 toques por la noche).
El ejercicio estar'a atrayendo la sangre y la energ'ia para el timo, haci'endolo crecer en vitalidad y beneficiando tambi'en los pulmones, coraz'on, bronquios y garganta. O sea, llenando el pecho de algo que ya era suyo y solo estaba aguardando una mirada de reconocimiento para transformarse en coraje, calma, nutrici'on emocional, abrazo.
Excelente, 'intimo, lleno de est'imulo... Bendito Timo.

Ahora si, parece que este video que se film'o el 13 de octubre en New York muestra que lo que se vi'o no eran globos. Si bien no se ve la forma o detalles suficientes, es claro que no parece nada hecho por el hombre, no se de cuestiones secretas, solo digo dentro de lo conocido hecho por el hombre.
Problemas con la tiroides (hipotiroidismo)
La tiroides es una gl'andula endocrina, ubicada en el cuello, la cual est'a encargada de producir prote'inas y las hormonas tiroxina (T4) y triyodotironina (T3) que regula el metabolismo general del organismo.
En algunas ocasiones, la generaci'on de hormonas por parte de la gl'andula tiroides disminuye (lo que se conoce con el nombre de hipotiroidismo). Esta condici'on afecta en muchos aspectos el desarrollo, en el caso de ni~nos y adolescentes, y del metabolismo en general, en los adultos.
Los s'intomas del hipotiroidismo var'ian dependiendo de la edad. En la etapa infantil y adolescente, hay un retraso del crecimiento lineal, desarrollo mental deficiente y puede existir una maduraci'on sexual tard'ia.
En cuanto a los adultos, los s'intomas pueden incluir:
Piel seca y p'alida
U~nas quebradizas
Sensaci'on de fr'io en todo momento
Estre~nimiento
Hinchaz'on en el rostro
Voz ronca
Dolor, rigidez o hinchaz'on en las articulaciones

Aunque en la mayor'ia de los hipotiroidismos se requiere de un tratamiento m'edico formal, se puede complementar 'este con remedios caseros y naturales que ayudan a restaurar, con mayor facilidad, el funcionamiento normal de la gl'andula tiroides.
Remedios populares
Remedio para problemas con la tiroides (hipotiroidismo) #1: Consumir kelp y fucus que son dos tipos de algas marinas que no s'olo son ricos en yodo sino tambi'en en otros minerales como potasio, magnesio, calcio, hierro, zinc, etc., y se consideran estimulantes naturales de la gl'andula tiroides.
Remedio para problemas con la tiroides (hipotiroidismo) #2: Colocar 1 cucharadita de hojas de poleo en una taza de agua hirviendo y agregar miel para proporcionar m'as nutrientes. Tomar dos tazas al d'ia.
Remedio para problemas con la tiroides (hipotiroidismo) #3: Lavar y rallar una ra'iz peque~na de jengibre y obtener una cucharada de ella la cual debe ser agregada a una taza de agua hirviendo. Tomar media taza de esta infusi'on dos veces al d'ia.
Remedio para problemas con la tiroides (hipotiroidismo) #4: Mezclar peque~nas cantidades de pimienta de cayena (5-7granos) en ensaladas o en agua caliente o fr'ia, ya que estimula la tiroides cuando est'a lenta como en el caso del hipotiroidismo. Sin embargo, no se debe consumir m'as de esa cantidad, ya que puede irritar la membrana mucosa del aparato digestivo.
Remedio para problemas con la tiroides (hipotiroidismo) #5: Colocar 1 cucharadita de hierba mate en una taza de agua hirviendo. Dejar reposar hasta que se refresque. Tomar lentamente y a sorbos una taza al d'ia.
Remedio para problemas con la tiroides (hipotiroidismo) #6: Hervir 2 cucharadas de corteza de roble en un litro de agua durante 15 minutos. Luego, agregar la cantidad suficiente de arcilla para obtener una pasta homog'enea. Aplicar esta preparaci'on directamente al cuello durante el m'aximo tiempo posible.
Recomendaciones
Consumir una dieta rica en pescados y mariscos los cuales aportan prote'inas necesarias para la producci'on de amino'acidos esenciales y b'asicos para asimilar el yodo el cual regula la tiroides.
Usar sal marina sin refinar en lugar de sal marina refinada, ya que 'esta, aunque tenga yodo, carece de oligoelementos.
Realizar ejercicios f'isicos como caminar o nadar para mejorar el metabolismo.
Evitar alimentos que pueden dificultar la absorci'on de yodo en el organismo como son la col, col de Bruselas, coliflor, br'ecol, espinaca, repollo, br'ocoli, soja o soya, duraznos, alubias y lima.
Evitar los alimentos procesados.
No consumir agua del grifo (en su lugar preferir destilada), ya que contiene chlorine y flouride los cuales bloquean los receptores de yodo de la gl'andula tiroides.
