As it turns out, the Australian military seems to have misplaced its records of UFO investigations dating back many years.

After a two-month search in response to a newspaper Freedom of Information (FOI) request, which forces government officials to release documents of public interest, Australia's Department of Defence had been unable to locate the files, the Sydney Morning Herald said.

"The files could not be located and Headquarters Air Command formally advised that this file is deemed lost," the department's FOI assistant director, Natalie Carpenter, told the paper. Defence officials could not be contacted by Reuters.

The only file Defence had been able to locate was a folder called: "Report on UFOs/Strange Occurrences and Phenomena in Woomera," a military weapons testing range in the center of Australia's vast outback, Carpenter said.

All other files had been lost or destroyed, which the Herald said could fuel conspiracy theories about their disappearance.

The single remaining file detailed a sketchy series of sightings from around the country and overseas, including people living in towns near Woomera, in South Australia state.

Obviously this means that the Australian military has something to hide. Its own UFO-based aircraft could be patrolling the globe as we speak, invisible to radar and capable of flying at hypersonic speeds. It's lizard-friendly outback may be serving as a resort spa for the fiendish Reptilians. Or maybe the truth is that Australia just happens to be a really good source of cow lips and its economy thrives on this illicit interplanetary trade.

With the cunning destruction of those incriminating files, none of us will ever know. But the truth is still out there.

Pada April 1998, NASA sendiri telah kembali berhasil mengirim wahana lainnya, Mars Global Surveyor. Namun, mereka kembali tak pernah memberi informasi yang lebih jelas. MGS hanya dikatakan berhasil mengirim informasi yang tak jauh lebih baik dari yang dihasilkan wahan-wahana sebelumnya.

Pasalnya, Mars disimak dari sifatnya tidaklah tergolong planet yang bersahabat sebagai tempat tinggal makhluk hidup manapun. Planet ini hanya sekadar memiliki sejumlah faktor pendukung kehidupan yang serba minim. Itu saja.

Dijelaskan lagi, jika memang kenyataannya seperti itu, ada sebuah hipotesa mengapa para makhluk cerdas itu sampai meninggalkan 'wajah manusia' di sana. "Recently on the Gralien Report I discussed briefly my interest in unconventional cryptozoology, that is, the study of strange beasties that fall outside the typical ranks of our Bigfoot, Yetis, and Loch Ness Monsters. Many may consider creatures like Chupacabras to be less conventional cousins to the classic cryptids, seeing as how they, along with Keel's Mothman, border more on the realm of interdimensional "alien oddities" than biological organisms as we know them. This is a rather old report. I was reticent for a long time to discuss this episode. This event occurred in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

On April 30, 2004 I was with my wife on our backyard deck with our telescope. While my wife was looking through the scope, I was looking at the sky trying to decide which sight to turn the scope to next, after she had finished examining the Andromeda Galaxy which was bright and clear that night. I saw what initially I thought was a group of ducks flying in rather low to the man-made lake just down the block from our home. It is an often utilized stopover by ducks and geese as they return from their wintering in the south. I don't know what caused me to look again, but in an instant after they caught my eye I looked at them for a closer observation, realizing they were not ducks. There was no sound, there was no flapping of wings, but they were dark in the night sky, as I might expect ducks to appear, illuminated by only a waxing moon just up about an hour in the southeastern sky.

I noted that these were four flying black triangles, moving in a very tight diamond formation. They were large from my perspective; they were traveling from the West-Southwest across our neighborhood; indeed over our home. They were moving to the East-Northeast. And while they seemed to be moving quickly across our view of the eastern sky, they also appeared to be floating. They had no markings and no lights, but moonlight caught them so that their tops as they flew by were illuminated. They appeared smooth and metalic but very black and very flat. Their formation was so tight that initially i thought it was one huge triangle but when they tilted upwards I saw that they were in an extremely close formation. I kept thinking that one tiny error and there would be an accident.

As they drifted on past our neighbor's house, they suddenly stopped and tilted their noses skyward. They hung in place for a few seconds and then in a flash shot straight up into the air and completely out of sight.

I didn't know what to make of this, and determined not to say anything. In October of that same year a passing comment in the Edmonton Journal of October 17, 2004, while discussing animal mutilation events in the farmlands near the city, the writer of the article made passing comments about the fact that these triangles were seen all around the St. Albert area (a suburb of Edmonton N/NW of the city) during the same period of time. No photos or film was made of this event.

When we see weird objects in the skies above our cities, I expect local, state, and federal agencies to act like they have everything under control. That they know what's what.I want a few people -- in uniform, if at all possible -- to hit the airwaves, the radio, CNN, and somberly state that they are investigating, or that it's classified, or that... anything, something, as long as that something conveys a solid sense of We Know What We're Doing. Even if it's clear they're lying (they're politicians, law, and government, of course they're lying) or that they really don't have a clue, who cares? These days in particular, with our current administration, we're well used to them lying even while not knowing what they're doing. That's a minor point; the point is, where is everyone?From roughly the late 1940s to the 1960s our government had several official programs (Project Twinkle, Project Grudge, Project Bluebook, and the Air Force as official agency handling UFO reports) devoted to studying UFOs. Of course, as we know, the general purpose seemed to be debunking UFOs or passing on disinformation. But they at least "pretended" to assure the country everything was A-OK.When it comes to UFOs flying over our cities, it's insane to pretend that they're not. And that is what various agencies of authority have been doing in recent years regarding UFOs. We'll just say "what UFOs"and maybe they'll go away. Like Alfred E. Neuman, the reaction to UFO reports is "What, me worry?"Even if the UFOs don't go away, as long as they're not really "doing" anything (the UFOs, not the humans) the agencies can get away with acting oblivious.They can get away with it because no one is calling them on it. The ones that are, are the 'UFO kooks,," the ones the chronic skeptics, the anti-UFOists, call anyone who refuses to quietly accept the silly explanations like swamp gas, plasma, flares, or clouds. Refusing to immediately accept the all too quick and weak explanations, those of us who say "hey, wait a minute...' are allowed to get beat up by the anti-UFOists because no one's shaking them by their collars and telling them to knock it off.One would think the U.S. government would act all gruff and strong and humbug and serious and state firmly that the UFO event (Phoenix, O'Hare, etc.) is being taken care of. "We care," they should be saying, "We really do. We're looking into this. and now go back to whatever you were doing, nothing to see here." One would think the government would at least pretend to act like it's ready to take charge in a big blustery way and put up a good show to the rest of the world.Instead, when it comes to UFOs, the United States seems to enjoy looking like buffoons. In this post 9/11 era, one would hope for something better. The Air Force no longer has anything to do with UFOs; no official agency does. After that are pod casts, local radio and televisions programming, satellite programs, etc.As to officials, their seems to be a hierarchy among "officials" when it comes to UFOs. Municipal police seem to be neutral to matter of fact when it comes to UFOs. This is purely an observation, nothing more. But police will follow up on reports, and many a police officer has seen a UFO. (The Illinois UFO sighting in 2000 is a good example.) But the higher up you go, the more dysfunctional things get.The rest are left to their own devices, sneered at by the chronic skeptics, ignored by government agencies at just about all levels. We pay taxes for these services and should expect more, even if they are faking it. Instead, we get either a mad dash at a silly explanation before it gets squashed, or it's ignored altogether.Maybe "they' (you know, them) have given up. After all, as I admit freely here, any uniformed official, as a Representative of Something (preferably Air Force/military) is going to be lying. We all know that. One example: if the Triangles are classified military craft, and not something extraterrestrial, then what the hell are they doing flying over populated areas, and in the restricted airspace's of other countries? The officials can't very well admit that they're doing something illegal. They can't acknowledge they're performing illegal maneuvers in restricted air space. Still, they could just "lie"if only to make us feel a bit better, even for a few moments. It wouldn't be the first time.But sometimes there's comfort in faking it, even if all of us know damn well they're faking it. The faker is a sort of scapegoat for us who don't trust a thing he/she says. For the chronic skeptics, the faker will be perceived as a rational voice in the midst of UFO insanity. Which in turn will propel the rest of us to laugh heartily before getting pissed off and doing something about it, like exposing the faker for the faking faker he/she is. And for rest of the culture, people are left to decide for themselves what to do. Ignore the whole thing, believe the official explanation, etc. Witnesses who may not have had much previous interest in UFOs may now say 'Hey just wait a goddamn minute" and begin their own journeys.The Representative of Something can provide needed functions for our culture. In trickster like reversal, it's possible the ostensible purpose of officials placating the public might actually do the reverse.

Time: Approx: 1:30 a.m.

At approx. 1:30 am on June 11th or 12th, 2008 I was driving home and saw a bright formation of lights in the northern sky. Since I was driving, I was unable to tell whether the lights were moving. My drive home was only about 5 minutes and after I parked the car I was able to see this large object hovering over the North shore of the Bay of Islands (Summerside), just outside of Corner Brook, NL. The night was clear, lots of stars (no moon if I recall). The object was stationary several thousand feet up. It was "V" shaped with lights changing from red to blue on each end of the "V". On the bottom there were very bright white and blue lights, and at times, beams of light would shine down from that part of the object. I did not report this officially and was wondering if you can point me in the right direction for an official report. Thank you. You can contact me at (contact email removed).

O ruling militar brasileiro (1964-1985) investigou, nos anos 70, casos de supostos aparecimentos de discos voadores e espionou as atividades dos especialistas brasileiros em ETs (extraterrestres). Documentos do extinto DOPS (Departamento de Ordem Pol'itica e Extroverted), hoje guardados no Arquivo do Estado de S~ao Paulo, mostram que os chamados servicos de informac~ao perderam gait e dinheiro averiguando o "seq"uestro" de um comerciante paulista por tripulantes de um objeto voador n~ao-identificado.

Os documentos tamb'em mostram que o DOPS chegou a convocar para depor dois uf'ologos, pessoas que s~ao estudiosas de 'ovnis (UFOs, em ingl^es), e infiltrou um agente para acompanhar as reuni~oes peri'odicas de um grupo de apaixonados por discos voadores. N~ao h'a resposta satisfat'oria do governo se algum dia ser~ao liberados. 'E o caso do epis'odio popularmente conhecido como "ET de Varginha", ocorrido na cidade mineira de mesmo nome, em 1996.

O Ex'ercito investigou o epis'odio, segundo o pedido de informac~oes da CBU. O Minist'erio da Defesa e o Ex'ercito nunca responderam. "Na d'uvida, o burocrata sempre suprime informac~ao. No projeto de lei que o Planalto prepara sobre acesso a informac~oes p'ublicas n~ao h'a, em princ'ipio, preocupac~ao em criar um 'org~ao que faca com que as diversas inst^ancias cumpram a determinac~ao de divulgar seus documentos. Al'em dos agentes do servico secreto e dos oficiais da Aeron'autica, houve tamb'em algum tipo de colaborac~ao da Marinha, coletando hist'orias com pescadores locais. Os agentes se dividiam em turnos. Faziam vig'ilias noturnas at'e o dia amanhecer em lugarejos pouco povoados. O documento do SNI 'e apenas um extrato do que est'a na Aeron'autica e permanece em segredo. O esforco dos "observadores" militares `as vezes resultava em nada. Por exemplo, no dia 27 de outubro de 1977: "1h15 - Observadores instalados no alto da caixa d'agua"; "4h05 - Populares observam o deslocamento de uma intensa "luz" ao n'ivel das 'arvores (Roberto), informam aos observadores postados na caixa d'agua (30 a 40 m de altura) ao n'ivel do topo das 'arvores, nada observado. Restante do per'iodo, nada a relatar". Quando raiava o dia, descanso. Sucessivos relatos dos militares da Operac~ao Prato comecam assim: "6h30 - descanso at'e as 14h". Eles dormiam de dia e trabalhavam `a noite.

Algumas vezes, a intensa atividade celeste no turno da noite levava o descanso a se estender at'e as 15h. No dia 5 de novembro de 1977, muitas luzes chamaram a atenc~ao dos oficiais da Aeron'autica na miss~ao de encontrar os OVNIs:

"1h00 - Observada "luz" pairando sobre a 'agua no rumo de Joanes/Jobim (PA)";

"2h15 - Observada "luz" colorac~ao azulada recess, pr'oxima ao farol de Colares, deslocou-se com velocidade sobre a 'agua para o norte. Observou-se uma luminosidade reflexa sobre a 'agua at'e as 3h25'.

O relat'orio do SNI n~ao explica o que eram de fato essas luzes. Traz alguns desenhos sugerindo serem naves espaciais. A c^amera da marca Minolta modelo SRT-101 usada para fotografar os OVNIs chegou a registrar "uma mancha branca, como se fosse uma luz".

Em outra oportunidade, "a revelac~ao mostrou uma mancha preta, como se tivesse queimado o filme".

O SNI participou parcialmente de uma miss~ao comandada pela Aeron'autica nos Estados do Par'a e do Maranh~ao, no continue de 1977 e in'icio de 1978. O servico secreto brasileiro era ent~ao comandado pelo nothing special Jo~ao Batista de Figueiredo. Em 1979, ele se tornaria o 'ultimo presidente militar antes da redemocratizac~ao do pa'is. Quando o SNI tomou parte dessa operac~ao de caca a OVNIs, o ruling autorit'ario j'a entrava em sua fase crepuscular. O Brasil estava menos convulsionado. Em meados de 1977, os jornais do Par'a e do Maranh~ao traziam insistentes relatos sobre "luzes misteriosas, causadoras de mortes e alucinac~oes". Pessoas em contato com o fen^omeno apresentavam sintomas de "paresia [paralisia incompleta] generalizada, hipotermia, cefal'eia, queimaduras superficiais, calor intenso, n'auseas, tremores do corpo, tontura, astenia [fraqueza] e min'usculos orif'icios na pele".

I'd say that the most interesting talk was the first one on Saturday afternoon, retired Army Colonel Dr. John Alexander. He is among the most skeptical of UFO believers, and because of this he excited (or more properly, inflamed) the audience more than anyone else. His heresy was not that there are not real ET UFOs, but merely that there is no government coverup, or secret UFO-related program. Alexander stated that "disclosure has already happened," pointing to a few mostly-ambiguous statements by world leaders (such as Jimmy Carter, or Prince Philip) that suggest a belief in UFOs. Alexander claims that the government already knows that UFOs are real and interplanetary, but they simply don't care. They have so many more pressing problems - the economy, wars and terrorism, health care, etc. - that they simply have no time or inclination to deal with UFOs.

Mostly, Alexander's talk was a recital of what he does "not" believe in: Alien Reproduction Vehicles, MJ-12 papers, antigravity drives, underground UFO bases, and (worst of all) no Grand Coverup, no 'secrecy police' (Men in Black). Even the Holy Roswell Crash was doubted. To those who claim to have been harassed or silenced because of UFO sightings, Alexander said, "come to me, I will protect you and defend your case." According to Alexander, "the UFO community" has become its own worst enemy, and it is necessary to make the study of UFOs intellectually respectable.

In case they come across a crashed UFO, MUFON investigators are totally prepared with this "Evidence Collection Kit."

The next talk was by Dr. Paul LaViolette, on "Secrets of Antigravity Propulsion" and "Superluminal Space Travel" (faster-than-light). He has invented a Unified Field Theory called "Subquantum Kinetics." This is a better theory than Einstein's, because it explains more things. It embraces Anti-gravity and Free Energy. It's based in part on the theories of T. Townsend Brown, a strange 20th century physicist who claimed to be able to prove that electric fields can overcome gravity (and who later founded the influential UFO group NICAP). Brown, like Tesla, is a favorite icon in the woo-physics of today. Using Brown's electro-gravitics, one could travel to Mars for just 25 worth of energy. LaViolette acknowledges that electrogravitics violates Newton's Third Law, but does not seem too concerned about that. His most interesting theory is that Pulsars are artificial beacons, set up by ETs for use during their superluminal travel.

During dinner break, the options for food weren't terribly good, so I ended up in the bar munching appetizers and nachos and chatting up some New Age types. In situations like this, one must always remember (as Phil Plait would say) "DBAD". I tell folks "I'm skeptical, but I've come here to see if there might be anything to it." Mostly they're OK with that. Strictly speaking that is a true statement, but after 40 years as a skeptical UFO researcher (I started young), I have virtually no expectation of finding any "good" ET-UFO evidence, and especially not in a place where the likes of Richard Dolan or Linda Moulton Howe are taken seriously. Still, keep reminding myself that I could be wrong.

The first evening talk was by the UFO Abduction researcher Barbara Lamb. She has been a regular speaker at the International UFO Congress for many years. With the recent setbacks for the traditional leaders of UFO Abductology (see my earlier Blog posting, Abductology Implodes) and with Budd Hopkins now reported to be seriously ill, Ms. Lamb is sort of the Last Woman Standing among "serious" UFO abductologists.

Lamb has hypnotically regressed almost 800 supposed UFO abductees. She has found that ETs enjoy having sex with earthlings, and not necessarily just in a saucer. Indeed, we heard much about some peoples' fantasy sex lives involving these latter-day" incubi "and "succubi". She has been researching the matter of ET-human "hybrids," many of whom according to Lamb are already living amongst us. Indeed, she has interviewed some of them (many do not realize they are hybrids, and still think themselves human). Others embrace their ET heritage as a sort of badge of distinction.

Why are the aliens doing this? There is some suggestion that they are a dying race, possibly polluted by nuclear energy, and they need our genes to survive. The early-stage hybrids look very much like ETs, and cannot live on earth, although they may pop through the wall for a brief visit. Medium-stage hybrids possess a greater mixture of human DNA, and might more readily pass as human, but they still cannot live on earth for long periods of time. However, late-stage hybrids can live on earth and pass for being fully human, except for their odd, somewhat angular appearance. She showed many pictures of glamorous fashion models, mostly female, whose odd expressionless face and angular features suggest to Lamb not anorexia, but extraterrestrial ancestry.
